Domestic Abuse

Domestic abuse does not always mean physical abuse. Sexual, verbal, psychological and emotional abuse are all forms of domestic abuse.

Our Solicitors can advise you on the options available to you, including a number of emergency orders that can be made by the Court to protect you and your children. The following orders are:

• A Non-molestation Order prohibits the abuser from being violent towards you, either physically or by threatening and intimidating. This prevents you being followed, spoken to, and contacted via phone, email or social media. It can also prevent the abuser from entering your home.

• An Occupation Order forces the abuser to leave the home and not return.

Breach of the above orders is a criminal offence, which means that the Police can take action and enforce the Order themselves through the criminal courts.
